Viper Creek Band
Five talented Newcastle-based guys got together in early 2011 to form The Viper Creek Band. They believed that country music in Australia was ready for an exciting new sound so they started rehearsing and working on material.
Good times, friendships and having a beer formed the themes for the songs on their first EP ‘Crazy Tonight’.
Lead vocalist Damien Baguley and guitarist Jochen Walter wrote the material and each member worked on the arrangements, individual sounds and harmonies.
Some of the best names in the business were hired to produce the EP - Mik McCartin (Troy Cassar Daley, Bluezone, Cathrine Britt, Lyn Bowtell) came onboard as producer and Michael Muchow (The McClymonts, Kasey Chambers, Catherine Britt) played Banjo and Mandolin on a few of the tracks. The EP was recorded in six days at Rockettown Studios and mastered by Jeff McCormack (Kasey Chambers) at the Music Cellar. The E.P debuted at Number 1 on the iTunes country albums chart knocking Lady Antebellum from the top spot.
The video for the single ‘Crazy Tonight’ was shot on a property outside of Newcastle where the band threw a massive backyard party. This catchy track has become their signature song and good time anthem.
The second single 'Tonight You Are Mine' followed a few months later and featured Tara Beaulieu in the film clip. The single climed to number 32 in the CMC charts. After recent lineup changes, the band is in the studio again to record it's second EP, this time with producer Simon Johnson at the helm.
